Hoops360 and SBL basketball players and coaches are participating in the “Free Throws For Haiti" fundraiser to gather funds to assist The Good Shepherd School in Haiti.
Hoops360 was fortunate to have sports psychology consultant Paige Covington, MA come share some important information in a workshop that focused on Imagery -- the act of envisioning yourself performing at a high level, and Self-Talk -- the act of speaking positive occurences into existence, and how both skills can be used to help one perform better in sports, as well as in other areas of life.
There is a saying in sports that, "Hard work beats talent, when talent does not work hard!" For three days a week for the last three months, Hoops360 Select and Premier ball players have been in the gym working very hard preparing for the basketball season, which is now upon us!
During the final week of Preseason training, the fruits of our labor started to come forth, as many of our teammates began to come to practice with their results from those programs that had tryouts before other schools. Nithyan -- "...Coach, I made it!"; Robert -- "...Coach, I played good in my GBL tryout, 'That is good Robert' ... No... I mean REALLY GOOD!" The most rewarding news was to hear about the college visit from one of our hard working seniors -- Caleb Smith, who will be playing basketball at the next level and is fully prepared to have an outstanding final year of high school at Forsythe Central.
The Hoops360 Rookies Preseason training session ended with the highly anticipated Parent Night -- where moms and dads join their Rookies players for an intense basketball workout! Parent's night is always one of the most popular nights of training because the players can show their parents that playing basketball is not as easy as it seems, and they get to share a few laughs when mom and dad have to do some of the difficult drills they have been doing for ten weeks!
Hard work is a constant through all of the Hoops360 programs and the Hoops360 Future Stars program is no different! This 10 weeks session of Hoops360 Future Stars has been one of the most competitive we have had in the past 5 years.
The Hoops360 Preseason training session started August 1st with a packed house of Ballers ready to put in the work needed to make this upcoming basketball season the best ever!
Beginning with perennial NBA All-Star point guard Kenny Anderson, and ending with Hall of Famer Dominique Wilkins; the Hoops360 "Summer of Stars" Basketball Camp Series was everything a basketball enthiusiast could hope for... and then some! In between these bookend camps was the Rising Stars Basketball Camp, which is designed for our youngest Ballers to get in the gym and work on developing the fundamental skills needed to become a good basketball player.
The entire Hoops360 family was happy about the invitation received by Coach Howard's 6th Grade to participate in the USSSA National Tournament held June 30th -- July 3rd, but was even more ecstatic about the run the team made to shock many, and finish the season as an Elite Eight finalist of this national tournament.
Coach Howard spoke highly of his team and the way they performed during the tournament, "I knew the guys were ready to compete at this level of competition. It was simply a matter of, if we wanted it bad enough; and I think we proved to ourselves that we have what it takes, and that we indeed did want it that bad!"
