Hoops360 and SBL basketball players and coaches are participating in the “Free Throws For Haiti" fundraiser to gather funds to assist The Good Shepherd School in Haiti.
Hoops360 Basketball is proud to partner with Haiti Child Sponsorship Program, a non-profit 501(c)(3) which provides assistance and serves the over 1,200 children of The Good Shepherd School in the city of Pele, one of the poorest areas in the hemisphere’s poorest country. Their mission is to provide a quality education, basic healthcare, and one hot meal per day to the students of The Good Shepherd School -- bringing dignity, hope, and a future to the community. Since 1982 Haiti Child Sponsorship has partnered with Haitian leadership to support their dream of a better life for the poor in their community.
The Good Shepherd School experienced flooding from Hurricane Matthew during the most recent storm; but extreme damage took place in the Tent City were they support a small school and where the poorest of the residents live. The residents of Tent City experienced severe flooding and damage to many of their homes. The immediate tasks from the aftermath of Hurricane Matthew is to replace the roof on the Mary Scott Building (Rev. Charlie and Mary Scott are the founders of The Good Shepherd School.), provide 6,000 gallons of drinking water, and provide resources to rebuild several family homes, repair roofs, and help in the clean up efforts of the area.
Hoops360 will raise funds and contributions for the Haiti Child Sponsorship Program nonprofit organization to help replace the roof on the Mary Scott Building and also to provide drinking water and much needed supplies to help the impoverished nation at this difficult time.
Hoops360 basketball players and coaches are participating in the “Free Throws For Haiti" fundraiser to gather funds to assist The Good Shepherd School in Haiti.
Each player will be asked to receive at least two pledges of a monetary donation for each free throw that is made when shooting ten free throws. The proceeds from pledges will be sent directly to Haiti Child Sponsorship Program nonprofit organization to benefit The Good Shepherd School. For example: Coach Johnson participates in the Free Throws for Haiti Fundraiser and receives two pledges. The first pledge is for $3 and the second pledge is for $5. Coach Johnson shoots his ten free throws and makes 7 out of 10 free throws. If a player makes all ten free throws, then they continue shooting until they miss, and that number of free throws made would be used for the pledges. In this example, the first pledge would donate $21, and the second pledge would donate $35. Pledges will be able to be made directly to the Haiti Child Sponsorship Hurricane Relief Fund at the following link: Free Throws For Haiti Donation
The shooter will then challenge five other people to shoot free throws and gather pledges to help our family in Haiti. The goal is to raise a lot more than the $5,000 they are requesting to help this organization provide for the wonderful people in this impoverished country who are struggling with day to day necessities that most people in the world take for granted. Hoops360s mission is to solicit the basketball community worldwide to provide relief and aide to those in our global and local community who needs our assistance.
